Capital city of the State of San Luis Potosí. Approximately 1,100,000 people live in the city, making it the biggest and most important commercial city in the state. The city was founded in 1592, and still preserves magnificent buildings from the virreinal period and the Porfiriato, such as City Hall, where the Royal and Episcopal Houses used to reside. Several cultural events take place in San Luis Potosí through the year, along with traditional sport events. The city has numerous services as restaurants, night clubs, international airport and is also connected to the rest of the state through a modern highway system.
